Meet Basic Checklist

apply for an AGL sanction This is important. Non Sanctioned meets are not sufficiently insured! 2. Secure a competition site. Meets can be in your gym or in rented facilities, or separate sessions in a larger meet. 3. Invite another team or teams to your meet. AGL encourages dual and tri meets at the local level. In our opinion the smaller, less chaotic competitions foster better opportunities for young gymnasts to extract a positive experience. That being said, Large meets are great too. They just require more planning. Remember to set a reasonable entry deadline, so that you have time to order awards. 4. Make A meet Budget. Estimate your basic expenses typically, Judges, Medals and incidentals. Set a meet fee per gymnast that will cover your expenses with room to spare. Typical meet fees for Local meets are about $45 US. If you are giving team awards, a team fee of $25 per level will comfortably cover team awards. Remember the $5 per gymnast AGL fee. Set a reasonable spectator fee. 5. Secure Judges. You can get USAG rated judges if they are available through your USAG or NAWGJ state judging director or local assigner. IF USAG Judges are not available in sufficient numbers for your meet date, you can use AGL certified judges at the SMART START levels. the list can be found in the judges section on this site. Remember AGL meets are one judge per event at all levels, even the pros. 6. Purchase Awards. After you have received your entry information. make an estimate for your awards. calculate 50% plus 1 on each event for medals and placement awards for all around to 50% plus 1 and then all around medals for all if you choose. 7. Run your Meet 8. File Your meet Report
