Professional Division Rules
Professional division rules
- ** Any and All gymnastics clubs participating in AGL sanctioned events, must comply fully with the Child abuse prevention requirements and laws of the State which their gym operates in. *** AGL Professional division Rules Competition Format
- AGL professional level competitions up to and including the National Championships are team competitions
- AGL team meets are match point competitions.
- Scores are determined using current FIG international rules with the following exceptions.
- A. No dive rolls are allowed
- B. There are no deductions for artistry.
- AGL equipment specs apply.
- Each team will have 24 competition slots as follows:
- 3 competitors on each of the four women’ events
- 2 competitors on each of the six men’s events.
- Competition order is as follows; Men’s floor – Women’s Vault – Men’s Pommel Horse – Women’s uneven bars – Men’s rings – Women’s Beam – Men’s Vault – Men’s parallel bars – Women’s Floor – Men’s High bar -.
- A coin flip at the center of the floor area will determine which team will send the first gymnast up on their first event (men and women). The winner of the coin flip has the choice. *note: the team that sends the first gymnast up on the first event will end up going second on the last event!
- Team one will send up their first competitor. After this competitor’s score is flashed, team two has one minute to decide who they will send up to compete against this score. After the competitor from team two performs and his/her score is flashed, one point is awarded to the team whose gymnast has the higher score from this round.
- The second competitor on the event will be sent up by team two, so that team one now has an opportunity to answer. Once again the coach has one minute to choose his competitor.
- The teams must alternate which team sends up the first competitor from event to event.
- A single point is awarded after each pairing to the team whose gymnast posts the higher score.
- This match point system facilitates a great deal of strategy into the competition.
- There is a total of 24 points awarded in the competition. A typical final score might be team A 16 – Team B 8 etc. Warm Us
- There will be a 30 minute open stretch
- There will be a one hour open warm up
- There will be a 30 second touch per gymnast prior to each event
- Although the women have only three competition slots on each event, they may warm and have ready to go up to five gymnasts on each event. (only three compete) This allows the coach a larger tactical range.
- Although the men have only two competition slots on each event, they may warm up and have ready to go, up to four gymnasts on each event. (only two compete) Likewise, this allows the coach a larger tactical range. Copyright American Gymnastics Leagues © 2012. All Rights Reserved. Web Design and Hosting by J. Marc Designs
