The AGL Difference
There are a number of excellent organizations involved in gymnastics in the United States — USAG, USAIGC, AAU, YMCA and Sokol, to name a few. AGL is different from these fine organizations, and unique in a number of ways:
Unique in a number of ways
- AGL equipment specifications allow for reduced-impact training and competition at all levels.
- SMART START beginner competition levels have their own code of points, designed specifically for optional competition for beginner gymnasts.
- The intermediate FLIP program uses modified FIG rules — scores typically range between 12.0 and 17.5.
- In AGL boys levels, all-around and team scores use the best four of six events, so programs without all of the men's equipment can still compete.
- Athletes may compete at different levels on each event, so they can compete at their best on every apparatus.
- AGL is dedicated to a sustainable professional gymnastics league built on a profit-sharing model.
- AGL rules have no artistry deductions. Artistry is encouraged but is not part of the score.
- AGL offers optional training designs built to pair with each competition level.
- AGL local competitions are league-based.
- AGL facilitates the FIG coaches education program.
- The AGL level-mixing concept lets gymnasts develop each event at its own pace.
- The AGL “stay-up score” lets gymnasts try higher levels and freely drop back until a stay-up score is achieved.
- AGL offers in-person and online idea-sharing education seminars for coaches.
